The Outer Hebrides ( or Western Isles) form an archipelago of which the major islands include Lewis and Harris, North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist, and Barra. Lewis and Harris, are frequently referred to as individual islands, but are joined by a land border.  Other islands that are accessible by bridges are Great Bernera, which is en-route to Uig and Scalpay in Harris.  So whilst there is plenty to discover in Uig, you are ideally situated to explore the rest of the islands, and if you are really adventurous take a boat trip to St.Kilda, stunningly beautiful.  Sea Trek offer excursions and they are on the doorstep.

You can take a trip out from the cottages to explore Lewis, nearest neighbour Great Bernera, Harris and Scalpay, yet still be home at teatime.Callanish Stone Circle
